- 20 ml tequila
- 200 ml red grape juice, freshly squeezed (approx. two large red grapefruit)
- ½ a cup of syrup (see recipe for homemade simple syrup below)
- A little cranberry juice
- Sparkling mineral water
- Fresh mint
- 150 g sugar
- 100 ml water
Squeeze the red grapefruit and strain the juice. Fill a shaker with ice cubes. Pour the tequila, the red grapefruit juice and the syrup into the shaker and shake well. Strain off the ice, and pour the drink into glasses with ice cubes. Top with a little cranberry juice and a little sparkling water. Wash a few sprigs of fresh mint, beat them lightly with a knife handle or similar to enhance the mint aromas. Stick a sprig of mint in each glass and enjoy.
Tip: Ready-made simple syrup for drinks is available in the shops if you are short of time.
Pour the water into a saucepan and bring to the boil. Add the sugar and reduce the heat. Stir well until the sugar has dissolved. Turn off the heat, and allow the syrup to cool down completely before using it. If you have leftover syrup, it can be poured into a scalded bottle or jar and kept in the fridge.
