| Cleaning | Cleaning:Always unplug your electric kettle and allow it to cool down before cleaning.Never clean your electric kettle under running water or by immersing it in water. None of the kettle parts are dishwasher-safe. Clean the external surfaces of the kettle with a damp cloth. Small amounts of washing-up liquid may be used. Do not use steel wool or abrasive detergents. Never use any solvent such as surgical spirit, mineral spirits or benzene. Give the cleaned kettle a final wipe with a soft dry cloth or kitchen towel. The removable lid containing the filter can be cleaned using a soft brush, not a metal brush.Descaling:To extend the life of your electric kettle, take care to descale it regularly. Empty your electric kettle after each use. This reduces limescale build-up. Boil 0.8 litres of water in your electric kettle. Important: Switch off the kettle and fill with 0.4 litres of household vinegar (4-5% acidity). Do not set the kettle to boil, as this may cause the contents to boil over and could cause scalds. Leave the water and vinegar solution in the kettle for a few hours. Empty the kettle and rinse the inside thoroughly with fresh water. Fill the kettle with fresh water and bring to the boil. Empty the kettle and rinse again in fresh water. Repeat the procedure if your electric kettle still contains limescale. Other descaling agents intended for electric kettles may be used. Take care to follow the instructions for use of your chosen descaling agent. The limescale filter can be soaked in a water and vinegar solution to remove any limescale. Rinse the kettle thoroughly after descaling. Do not use sharp objects when descaling and cleaning. |
