Art for everyone ...

The borderline between art and design is becoming ever more blurred. Art is encroaching on commercial design, while on the other hand there are several examples of “art” being integrated into industrial products. What is what, you may ask yourself? - and who should decide what belongs where. The question may basically be irrelevant as it is, to an ever-increasing extent, up to us whether we see something as belonging in one sphere or the other. In some cases, we may in fact encounter a true mixture.

The new EVA SOLO media holder is a perfect example of this phenomenon. Its design is so simple that it looks more like a modern sculpture for your home. There is just one difference – this media holder is very much intended for constant use. The media holder provides storage for most sound, game, video and data media such as CDs, DVDs, Minidiscs, diskettes, Playstation, etc. The wavy anodized aluminium base prevents the media from sliding around, and the two moveable matt stainless steel ends provide excellent support when the collection is neither small nor large. The two moveable ends also make it possible to flick through the collection even if it only contains a few media.

Designers Claus Jensen and Henrik Holbæk are behind the new product for the home or the office, where there may, of course, also be a need for storing media in style.

Design: Claus Jensen and Henrik Holbæk.
